Kimble Cricket Club 1907 - to present.

Kimble Cricket Club was originally formed over one hundred years ago and the pitch to this day stands on Marsh Road in Little Kimble, or Smoky Row as its otherwise known.

2007 Was Kimble Cricket Clubs Centenary Year. In July of 2007 the Club held a Black Tie dinner and party at the clubhouse to mark the Centenary in style. The evening included not only a Grande marquee set up out on the outfield, but also there was plenty of music, food and wine included for all. We had a live Jazz band play at the event on through until the early hours of Sunday morning, before some of us had to get up again to make it back out onto the square... The event was a huge success and it was great to see so many KCC players of past and present united together to mark Kimble's finest Century.

Now sadly I'm not quite old enough to have seen the formation of the club or to have seen and recorded a lot of club history. Also of course in over one hundred years many players and club members have been and gone, and of course sadly many of them are no longer with us - this of course makes tracking down the club history hard. However throughout 2009 I will be compiling as much of the clubs history as I can, including photos, match results, trophy awards and other memorable dates and memories. So please check back here later on this year to find out some more about one hell of a great little village cricket club. Roll on another hundred years...

More Club History coming soon...

ECB Clubmark Accreditation

In 2010 Kimble Cricket Club will work towards attaining ECB Clubmark accreditation status.

By registering to work towards ECB Clubmark, Kimble Cricket Club will join a growing number of cricket clubs across England and Wales that are prioritizing junior development and creating a benchmark for high quality community club cricket.

ECB Clubmark gives clubs an opportunity to write and implement new procedures as well as acknowledge existing practices. Cricket clubs are required to present evidence and demonstrate implementation across four different themes, culminating in the production of a Club Development Plan.

The four themes are:

  • Duty of Care and Safeguarding Children
  • The Cricket Programme
  • Knowing your club and its Community – One Game
  • Club Management

Achieving Clubmark status will formally recognize the excellent work we already do for junior cricket and will importantly give the club access to support and funding provided by the ECB.

If you would like to be involved in helping Kimble Cricket Club achieve Clubmark accreditation please contact Bob Whitehead on 01296 338335
